Aluminum vs. Stainless Steel in Solar Pumps

When you invest in solar pumps for your farm, home, or business, you want the best of the best. When you shop for solar pumps and equipment from Advanced Power, we guarantee that is exactly what you will get. We manufacture all of our own products and have the capabilities to create the solar products you need. We want you to love our products and for them to last you for decades, which is why we made a big change to help our solar equipment get better!

Our products used to be made with high-quality aluminum. This is a lightweight metal that worked well for our solar equipment. However, we noticed that it was corroding faster than we expected. So we made a switch. Our products are now all made with stainless steel. While this is a heavier metal, it will outlast aluminum products and help keep your solar equipment in great condition year after year.

Since we have made this switch, we wanted to give you some more information about stainless steel and aluminum. Read on to learn more about the metals we’ve used for our solar products!

Benefits of Aluminum

As we already mentioned, aluminum is a lightweight metal, making it more desirable for different products. It is also more malleable and can be shaped in any which way. This is another factor that makes aluminum more desirable for different specific projects. However, aluminum can be difficult to weld and is not as strong as stainless steel.

Benefits of Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is a strong and durable metal. Let’s take a look at some of the benefits of this metal and why we chose to use it for our solar products.

Strength and Durability

Stainless steel is a lot stronger than aluminum, which makes it a great choice for different products. It is also more durable. This is great for solar equipment since it has to withstand the elements. The strength of stainless steel is one of the biggest benefits.

Corrosion

While aluminum and stainless steel are both known for their non-corrosive properties, stainless steel is the better choice. We originally used aluminum because it was lightweight and known to be more resistant to corrosion. However, with the corrosion problems we have been having, we decided that we need to make a change and find a metal that is even more corrosive resistant. And that metal is stainless steel.

While both aluminum and stainless steel are great metal options and great for different types of products, we wanted to give you the best solar pumps and products. We made the decision to make the switch to stainless steel after finding an issues with our other material choice. This way, you can expect to get the highest quality products every time you use Advanced Power as your solar provider.
